Last week I was invited to The Point’s first ever fashion show duo – Fashion Night Out and Fashion Day Out. Attendees had the opportunity to see the new Spring/Summer ’14 stock of most brands available at The Point, and the chance to grab some special offers and discounts following the shows. I was live blogging the whole thing over here and now I’m breaking down some of the top trends I think shined through the shows.
Pastels are synonymous with Spring and Summer. And for good reason too. Pair them with whites for the an easy breezy effortless look. You’ll find different interpretations at most of the shops at The Point. Find your fave and wear it ad nauseam this Summer. Thank me later.
Florals for Spring is one of fashion’s biggest clichés. Case in point. But the power of Miuccia Prada’s tropical storm prevailed, and it trickled down into the high street brands. Don’t think usual florals though – think bigger, bolder, weirder. Stradivarius, Pull & Bear and New Look have some really striking styles that still ooze wearability.
Summer suiting is something I’m really into even though I’m far from preppy. Light materials mean your 2-piece suits will withstand the heat and win in the name of all that is chic. Trussardi, Armani Jeans and even New Look have some incredible offers. I wore a blazer plus shorts combo from New Look (pictured on the model above) which got a bunch of compliments.
Looking ‘basic’ has never been so cool thanks to something the fashonistas are calling normcore. With so many people trying to stand out for such a long time, fitting in with the rest has suddenly become a thing. Don’t pass up basics just cos you thought they’re boring, they’re just what you need right now. Add Birkenstock style sandals or white sneakers and enjoy being fashionable and comfortable. What a concept right?
The Point is open Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 7:30pm
