You might find the fashion The Hunger Games’ capitol citizens wear to be so outrageous that it verges on ridiculous, but your grandmother probably just thinks they’re designs inspired by haute cauture from the 1930s and the 1940s. That’s what I was thinking when I was watching The Hunger Games last week – so much so that I was more interested in the wacky outfits and not-so-much on the actual storyline. I know I know -100 fan girl points. I find it so inspiring how pieces made about 70 years ago when resources, tools and design were scarce found their way into the present.
